White people love ethnic diversity, but only as it relates to restaurants.
Many white people from cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York will spend hours talking about how great it is that they can get Sushi and Tacos on the same street. But then they send their kids to private school with other rich white kids, and live in neighborhoods like Santa Monica or Pacific Palisades.
But it’s important to note that white people to do not like to be called out on this fact. If you run an ethnic restaurant you can be guaranteed repeat business and huge tips if you act like your white customers are adventurous and cultured for eating food that it isn’t sandwiches or pasta.

Ha ha. White people love to pretend they love diversity. White people always have those “Coexist” and “Celebrate Diversity” bumper stickers. But the fact of the matter is, like everything about white people, is they talk to the talk – but can’t walk the walk.
The fact of the matter is, when the “diversity” presents itself outside of the white person’s terms, they can’t stand it. When some black guy (and not an artsy-fartsy, cultured looking black guy) shows up at their favorite haughty taughty ice cream parlor, when a big hispanic or Hmong family shows up on their beach, or they are confronted with a mixed-race family, white people freak. You can tell, because white people start doing the thing they love to do more than anything – and was left off this list as a huge oversight – staring. Its a compulsion with white people. They can’t stop themselves, even if they want to. Even if you stare at them back and they pretend to act nonchalant or look away. They stare. They stare until you leave or they leave.
White people are racist. In fact, in my experience, a lot of white people that “white people” would call “redneck” are far more tolerant, accepting people – and certainly on a personal level – than “white people.” “White people” are uptight, repressed, racist hypocrites.

Diversity sucks
Diversity = people who look different from me, but think exactly the same.
I prefer diversity of thought to the diversity of skin color. I harbour the politically incorrect viewpoint that neither tracks very well with the other.
I hold the even more shocking viewpoint that the diversity of thought is more important than the diversity of skin color.
I do not think that the world’s current and future problems will be solved by making sure that every one on the case can be shown to provide X amount of Y color equaling Z diversity.
I do think that making sure society offers the chance to excel to every individual is something we need to see as a constitutional amendment, again.
There was a civil rights act put in place to do precisely this. I later began a career in academia and publically supported biomedical research. I have had to fess up to being the less desired color of person on every job and grant application for federal and state funding that I have filled out over a 10 year career. I even have the wrong genitalia.
I am not so sure that white people like diversity any more or less than non-white people, which are apparently the only other kind of person.
I am quite sure that nobody ever has or ever will like being the wrong color.
How would those who are now spending their lives and careers promoting diversity feel if they themselves were ever found on the wrong end of their own policies?
I have not met anyone who is happy with keeping his or her own job and/or funding suggest that he or she personally should be replaced with someone of a more desired color. It always seems to be someone else’s opportunity that needs to be sacrificed on the altar of diversity.

I rarely hear someone come right out and say what you have, that current whites should accept anti-white racism as punishment for crimes of their ancestors.
My ancestors were Irish. They had been oppressed by the British for centuries at the time they came here to America in the mid 1800s.
Several of my ancestors fought in the Union Army during the Civil War. None of my ancestors ever owned slaves, although like most Europeans of non royal descent, many of my ancestors were slaves during Feudal times.
How much punishment should I suffer for the non-transgressions of my ancestors?
Do you realize that this is the same form of justification used to condone fear and loathing of black and Hispanic males, e.g., that it is okay to punish the innocent due to the guilt of others?
I think that it is necessary to stop racial discrimination in order to protect now and future generations from racial discrimination.

uh, nobody’s asking you to suffer for the transgressions of your ancestors. The laws are there because the offspring of your ancestors are STILL acting like their ancestors. As i said before, businesses are only interested in one color: GREEN. It is a fact of life in america that if you are non-white, you have to be twice as good as the white in order to get considered for the job.
If you do not believe me, consider Major League Baseball. There is NARY an average non-white player in the league. All of the average players are WHITE. All of the non-white players are super rich because they are better than those average white players, that is: SUPERSTARS. The league is 85% white BUT, 16 of the top 20 money makers are non-white (according to Sports Illustrated last summer baseball issue). Proof positive that the non-white has to be twice as good as the white (with the benefits of being paid tons of money instead of just pounds of money).
Ok I’m confused. You say that businesses only care about GREEN, but then say ” if you are non-white, you have to be twice as good as the white”. Well if businesses only care about green, then they wouldn’t care about skin color and a non-white would not have to be twice as good. You contradict yourself.

I have no problem whatsoever with the lack of racial discrimination in baseball and basketball and football and ice hockey.
I never did well at baseball and racism had no part in it. Why should I have to combat anti-white racism in science?
What is really more important to the whole world, a good fastball or the cure for cancer? The work I am doing will benifit humans. I do not study black only or white only cancer.
I have never understood the absolute lack of underlying rules and principles concerning “affirmative action”. You bring up the example that baseball does just fine without it. The only standard is helping the team win. The best get the stardom and the money. I do not care if they tend to be black. My sport is football and many of the greats are black there too.
A significant difference to me is that I do have to pay taxes and do not have to buy baseball tickets. Another sicnifigant difference to me is that I could get into baseball on the same standard as everyone else, if I were a good enough baseball player. There is a different standard for different races in the field that I am in and there is a racial byass in the funding that I compete for. A-rod does not have to overcome any racial bias in competing for funding, he just has to hit the ball harder.
I really do not see anything better about being racist now than in the past.
I really think that the success of black and hispanic athletes should be held up as a standard that blacks and hispanics can achieve on the same level as whites without racial discrimmination playing a part. Why can the same approach not be taken in other walks of life? Nobody was coerced into hiring Jackie Robinson or Hank Aaron. Within one generation, baseball had changed forever, without using “good racism” to oppose “bad rascism”.
Understand that advertising opportunity in science and outreach programs are something that I do actively support. I am just saying that if a black man can work hard enough to star in the NFL by being a genuine NFL caliber athelete, he can work hard enough to get into medical school by being a genuine student of medicine.
Oh give me a break about no opportunities for whites in the sciences!
Hell, 90% of the scientists in america are white so get off that high horse about discrimination in that area. You must be the first white person EVER to complain about unequal treatment in the science field.

And because of this type of thinking among whites like yourself, there are laws and statutes on the books to REMIND you that it is supposed to be a balanced field…meaning, there would be no equal rights laws and affirmative action statutes if white people in business were doing the right thing.
Unfortunately, this is not the case because the laws and statutes have not been revoked or overturned due to still persistent unequal treatment in the workplace.

I couldn’t agree more. What floors me is that we are so concerned about diversity yet, in the process, we are in many instances actually being racist. We hire people and admit them to medical school BECAUSE they are of color, and for some reason we don’t see this as racist. Yes, we need to help people that are under-privileged to excel, but this is both while people and those of color. It is absolutely out of the question to make comments against people of color yet it is essentially socially acceptable to make comments against white people. HUH?!?!? Diversity of thought, opinion, background, culture, and religion make our country great. Diversity of skin color is merely a superficial concept with no real merit. Let’s just all coexist and, as one other person said here, we should like someone for who they are and not their skin color. (Even if this means we happen to only like people of our own skin color.)

Diversity is the most overused, overrated, non-sensical, politically correct buzzword that upper-middle class white liberals use as a sheild to protect themselves from being called a “racist” (the worst possible charge in their liberal circle of friends). This is so true.Iam black and I have traveled extensively.However,it is clearly been one of my interest.But it is a phenomenon,that whites love to be considered multi cultural.Its all a facade.I used to live in the inner city in Pittsburgh,PA.The whites only started coming to the city when through the process of gentrification all these expensive ethnic food restaurants started to open up.They thought they were so “cool” so “opened”however,they took their asses back their side of town at the end of the evening.
Well whites go out of there way to interact with other races because of the fact that if we dont then we are accused of being racist. so the fact of the matter is, is that if your white then its hard to be pollitically correct. i mean african americans call each other the n-word and its considered ok, but if a white does this then they are racist.
