What is wrong with everyone on this site? All everyone does anymore is bicker. I came on this site to get a few laughs, but find myself appalled by the coments being left by some very ignorant people who only seee the darkness in the world. This ignorance is coming from both spectrums. I am only 15 but i have a broader view of the world than most of you. People grow up and stop being so petty. At one point or another, everyone in the world is bound to disagree about something. Having a little self restraint is a good thing. There is no need for insults and name calling. Most of you are acting like a bunch of fifth graders who aren’t getting their way. Grow up! And for those of you who keep your arguments civilized. Thank you. G, you have kind of a pessimistic tone! “Nothing you can do about it,” “ Get used to it,” Someone once said something along the lines of, ‘Democracy is two wolves and a well armed sheep deciding what to have for dinner!” Meaning … that just because we may find ourselves in the minority, it doesn’t mean that everything is going to go the way of the majority.
Socialism always looks much better on paper and sounds much better in speeches that it looks up close, in your work place, in your kid’s school, in your home, … in your doctors office, etc. People are seeing what socialism looks like and they are doing plenty. The polls show that B.O. has had the fastest drop in popularity of any president since they started tracking such things. Domestically, all B.O’s programs are in trouble and internationally he’s considered week and naive. We, I believe, are seeing the reemergence of real conservatism …the silent majority is waking up, remembering the principles that our country was founded upon and preparing to take the country back.
A leadership vacuum like we see now won’t last long …someone will come on the stage, soon I think, that will give a voice to the conservative movement …someone like a new Ronald Reagan ….people are out there too ….last night I heard a man, Michael Williams (A black man by the way) on the Lora Ingram radio show …Powerful! He gets it. As socialism grips our nation people will step forward to take on leadership …these are exciting times!

You tend to forget that the so-called silent majority of today was a very loud mouthed majority during the Bush administration. Socialism is the direct result of the masses becoming disillusioned with uncontrolled capitalism.
I say that you cannot do nothing about it because this was inevitable. You can call it socialism, but I prefer to call it the masses rising up against the consolidation of wealth among a few. The conservative movement that you remember, Reagan’s America, will never come back. The majority of today is much more diverse than those who backed Reagan. If you studied this election of Obama, you will find that he is the first person elected to the white house WITHOUT a majority of Southern state votes, since the Civil War.
This is proof that The Southern states cabal of neo-conservatives will never have the power as they did before, unless they co-op with a more moderate group. This will not happen because neo-conservatives are too self righteous to cooperate with anyone or any group.

Well, you’ve certainly got all the credentials of a socialist, a healthy jealousy of those wealthier then yourself, a belief that the government should consolidate power to itself and that it will use that power to solve social disparities, and a belief that America’s worst enemy is the Capitalism that more than any other factor allowed her to become the supper power which she is.
I think it’s important for me to define what I mean by, “Conservative.” A conservative is a person who believes in, “Conserving” the principles and values on which our country was founded. Specifically, a conservative believes in personal freedom, personal responsibility, limited government, free markets and a strong national defense. Conservative’s believe that these principals allow the most people to live the best possible lives.
W. Bush was not a conservative, this by his own statements and more importantly by conservatives across the U.S. W Bush’s low approval numbers were not the result of Liberals they were the result of conservatives who saw that he was not in line with the principles of conservatism listed above.
W. Bush was, however, much more conservative than everyone running against him in the Democratic Party. The issue was not that W was conservative, it was rather that Gore and Kerry where so strongly and radically liberal.
McCain lost because conservative’s where not interested in him. Yes, he was more conservative than B.O., but so is everyone outside the faculty lounge a Harvard U. McCain was uninspiring to conservatives.
The almost comical thing about Liberalism, and especially socialism, is that it does not work! A person can say, “I’m voting for XYZ socialist because I think the rich are just too rich!” Years latter the rich will still be rich but the opportunity for the XYZ voter to ever advance himself is much reduced. Domestically, liberalism aggravates the people’s problems, the economy slows down, people feel repressed it sucks the joy out of living. Internationally the liberal or socialist nation becomes weaker and weaker until it is forgotten, absorbed or overrun.
I became a conservative when I realized just how cruel Liberal policy really is.
American’s have a front row seat right now; we can all sit and watch liberal policy in action.
I have a healthy dose of skepticism of unimpeded capitalism and conservatism, that’s for sure. Our national economic situation is a direct result of unregulated capitalism, and everyone knows that conservative governments almost always become totalitarian in some form.
Unregulated capitalism, totally conservative governments, and totally socialist governments are NOT beneficial. There needs to be a mix of each in order to have a successful, thriving government for the people (like under Clinton).
Well, we both agree that there is a role for government to play in society; I suspect that our differences are in how much government is the right amount. You seem to believe that more government will lead more people living better lives and I believe that less government leads to more people living better lives.
I’d like to ask you to give an example of a conservative government becoming totalitarian. You see, conservatism and totalitarianism are at opposite ends of the political spectrum. A conservative government would tend to move the nation (Or state) in the direction of greater personal freedom, more personal responsibility, freer markets, etc. By contrast, Liberal, socialist governments are the ones that devolve into totalitarian or Fascist nations. Look at the USSR, it had a socialist architecture, The Nazis evolved from the socialist movement (Nazi = National Socialists). When the government has the power, people who seek personal wealth and power don’t go away, they simply move to where the power is, the government.
If you are afraid of totalitarianism, of government controlling your life and restricting the rights given to you under the constriction, than be very afraid of Liberal politics.
Last week I wrote about B.O’s. plan (To take affect) to require tens of thousands of people in the finance field to have their salaries approved by the Federal Government. We’ve seen GM and Chrysler taken over by the government and parceled out, 60% for the government, 30% for the unions and 10% for the bondholders (GM) . We’ve seen land being confiscated, “To protect the environment.” We’ve seen gun rights infringed on all over the U.S. and on and on. Republicans, Conservatives are not doing all of this, it’s liberals, Democrats. Cap and Trade, passed in the house will affectively put every business under the direct control of the Federal Government and now, B.O. and company are trying to get their foot in the door so that the government can control the 1/6th of the economy that makes up health care.
Do you think your life will be better at the end of this socialist march? You are seeing the rapid erosion of the freedoms that were given to you by God and fought for by the founders of our nation …you should be pissed!
Finally, and I’m not going to write about this much, but, no, the current economic mess this nation is in does not have much to do with conservatives or the republican party or run away capitalism at all, just the opposite.
I think we can agree that the current economic mess had its beginnings in the housing market. The government created a situation (over the years) where a bank could lend money to an individual who was unlikely to pay the money back and then transfer the risk of that loan to the federal government via Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. Had the government not interfered with capitalism, had they allowed the full risk of bad loans to remain with the banks, than the banks would not have made the loans in the first place. If you’re looking for an individual to blame, blame Barney Frank, Democrat and head of the Finance Committee.
I am much more afraid of unimpeded capitalism and libertarianism. Left unchecked and you have a society of ultra rich and the rest serfs.
We will regress to a modern-day Medieval Times, or worse, a modern-day early 19th century Industrial Age similar to England. Throw away masses working for the rich and powerful capitalists, under a limited government which did not offer any protections to the underclasses from exploitation.
