Liberals tend to be more adventurous and exciting in bed. Conservatives tend to be… well… conservative in the bedroom. At least when it’s hetero sex.
I hate to dissappoint you my friend but every survey shows that Christian conservatives have a more satisfying sex life and happier life in general than do liberals.
Doubt me, google it. Your misconception is shared by a great many liberals though.

It’s interesting you call my personal experience with sex a misconception. I did not say I heard or read that sex with liberals was more exciting. It was obvious my comment was based on personal experience.
I guess I just don’t remember ever having sex with you so I can’t figure out how you came to the conclusion that my belief liberals are better in bed is incorrect.

Christians do not publicly talk about sex – unless it is with their Pastor (and they need the money).
Christians (at least the current crop) have no qualms about deception – lying to achieve an end is acceptable.

Humpty is correct in all aspects except for one: So-called “Conservative Christians” are the ones who give Christianity a bad name.

A simple question: Why shouldn’t a person be a hypocrite?
The simple question that really should be asked is:
Why SHOULD a person be a hypocrite when they claim to be christian?
Well, I was asking because calling someone a hypocrite has no bearing on the truthfulness of the person’s assertions; at best it might be a comment about the person’s Character.
Imagine that you see a person just run a red light. After running the light he pulls over next to you, rolls down the window and tells you, “Remember, you should always obey the rules of the road.” Well, the driver is a hypocrite … but he’s also correct.
Second point: It would be nice if every Christian could exactly match Christian doctrine with his actions … but it isn’t going to happen, ever. Everyone sins even Christians. The only thing special about a Christian is his relationship with Christ.
So I was just wondering if you thought that there was something special about calling Greg a hypocrite … that’s all.

I know talking from your “your own personal experience” may seem like a safe bet for avoiding confrontation. But, when your lack of real experience nullifies what you percieve your limited experience to represent, you have a problem.
Like most western women, I’m sure, making sure everybody has the full benefit of your inexperience is of paramount importance to you.
Except for liberals, in our culture everybody has to learn it for themselves to believe pretty much anything. The only reason liberals are different is because all their beliefs come from party dogma.

On the off chance that you’re serious about what you wrote and have an open mind, I’d like to recommend the book, What’s So Great About Christianity, by Dinesh D’souza. This is one of those books that you’ll read with a highlighter. This is a great book for the agnostic or atheist …read it as a way of learning what Christianity is all about just so you’ll be able to better beat up Christians if you’d like.

I have watched this evangelical movement evolve (whoops) for thirty five years… in fact, i would not doubt that you are the offspring of the early “Falwellians”. You do not, as a group, accept evidence of any science , unless it benefits you in some manner (Jesus the entrepreneur). [there are pictograms older than 6,000 years]. You quote the Bible, and then say there are no other interpretations of what was meant are valid. I spent the past 35 years attempting to have open minded (yours) conversations with evangelicals, only to be cut off. I have been sent e-mails about politicians and how i should vote, etc. etc. You, as a group, do not accept anyone who does not believe exactly as you do…and, your goals seem to be to control government and the military – thus, forcing your beliefs on all. Just read a book review about the book you mention: lets let the science experiment validate your claims (you know what i mean). BTW – to be fair – read one of Dawkins books (bet you won’t).

Would you like to revise this statement? Christians have been a major proponent of science since the dark ages. Today, Christian colleges teaching science are everywhere. Some of the greatest scientists have been prominent Christians and many, many scientists today are practicing Christians.
Wikipedia can give you a list of the most famous Scientists who were Christians, just Google it.
By the way, D’souza, whose book I recommended and who is one of the most powerful apologists, believes in evolution. Shock-a-roony!

If Christians do not accept various interpretations of the bible than how do you explaine the various forms of theology and thousands of denominations spread all over the world?

Then why aren’t you controlled? Christians have always outnumbered every other group in the U.S. If all Christians believed the same way and sought to control the non-Christians than how is it possible for say a vote to legalize abortion to pass? How does the extreme minority in the U.S. account for its great freedom if the overwhelming majority is intent on conforming the country to their ideals? And note that this freedom enjoyed by the minority was had even in colonial times.
It is the liberalism (In the classic sense of the word) of Christianity that has allowed all to follow or not to follow in his or her own way. A basic theological tenet is that not all people will have a relationship with Christ. Christians sadly acknowledge this.

I hear this lot. Science is a wonderful tool but it doesn’t do everything. Science is capable of uncovering truths ABOUT THE PHYSICAL world. God, by definition is outside the physical world. Science can not pose a hypotheses concerning God because one of the rules of a hypotheses is that it must, at least in theory, be able to be proved wrong. So, God can neither be a question or an answer in science. A scientist who comes to the conclusion that, “God did it” would not be taken seriously and for good reason. Science is about using the physical universe to study the physical universe. Science is the wrong tool to use if you want to discover God. Science can very well give us a hint of the power of God, and this is why so many Christians have taken to science, but don’t expect to discover God though science …that is neither good science nor good theology.
If we’re going to carry on discussing I’d like to suggest that you pick one point to discuss. These things tend to grow and take over entire networks if you’re not carful.

I’m going to a Tea Party tonight! Yep, I learned last night that tonight the Tea Party Patriots are having a get together and I decided to go. I’ve never been to a protest before. I guess it’s a protest? I know for sure that The Tea Party Patriots believe that government should be held accountable for what it’s doing.
Last night I tried to absorb as much as I could about the Congressional health care bill and as I read I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe that our representatives could be so deaf to the needs of the people and the history of nations that have gone down the road of socialized medicine. As I read I thought, “I’ve got to do something” and then I heard about the Tea Party. So I’m going.

I’m convinced that a lot of people … and just about everyone under that age of say thirty, don’t really understand the idea of Socialism. They don’t understand what’s so bad about it and how it ends up affecting society. People don’t understand why socialism leads to misery. So I’d like to help by passing along an analogy that I heard the other day ….the analogy of Mrs. Marx and her Socialist class room!
Imagine a high school class room. Now, in the “Old and failed” way of doing things the kids would do work and based on the work that they individually did they were rewarded with a grade. This system resulted in some students doing quite well and some kids doing quite poorly.
Enter the Socialist teacher, Mrs. Marx. She starts off being very popular, “It’s not right that we should have 40% of our class failing (She’s prone to exaggeration) while 20% of our class is getting all the teacher attention and the best grades!” “Aren’t we all students together?” She asks. “It’s time for us to start working together. It’s time for the kids who have been benefiting from all the teachers time and their parents hard work to start helping the kids who have been left behind!”
Then Mrs. Marx makes her big announcement. “Since we’re all students together and since no student is any better than any other student, from now on all students will receive a grade of, “C” for all of their work and for a final grade.”
For the first month the kids who had been over achievers continued to turn in superior work while the kids who’d been doing failing work, or close to it, continued to do failing work. But after about a month things began to change.
What happened was that Mrs. Marx, while being well intentioned, had made a critical error. She had failed to take into consideration basic human characteristics. For instance, she didn’t realize that people often work hard to distinguish themselves from their peers. She also didn’t realize that some people will always do the absolute minimum to get by. The result of Mrs. Marx’s errors was that very quickly the formally high achievers found that they could not distinguish themselves in class so they begin to excel outside of class. Also, the students who had been low achievers where now doing even worse. It turned out that many of them where only doing the work they had been doing upon fear of failing. Now, since they always got a “C” for everything they did, or didn’t do, they did almost nothing confident that they would receive their, “C” and that would keep their parents off their backs. These students were the most enthusiastic supporters of Mrs. Marx.
The result was that Mrs. Marx’s class became the most unmotivated and lest educated in the entire school.

I’m not saying only socialism is the answer, just that a balance is needed where the bright can get ahead and everyone has equal opportunity (and for that to happen a bit of socialism is needed)

Well, you’re in luck 123, because we have, “A bit of socialism” Medicaid, social security, pubic schools, school grants and on and on. When it comes to government’s control of business (Which is really what socialism is about) never has it been greater. What you mean is, “A little “more” socialism is needed.”
I’m sure that what we’d both like to see is a government that allows the most people to live the best lives possible. My contention is that capitalism is that system. The socialist societies of the world have all the social ills that we see in capitalist societies with typically half the growth and twice the unemployment. In other words, capitalist countries provide for the social good and also provide greater opportunity.
I’d like to pick up your charge of, “Greed” which you say exists in capitalist countries … you couldn’t be more correct! But greed also exists in socialist countries. The big difference is that capitalism “Channels” greed so that it can benefit society. The easiest way to gain wealth in America is to offer the public goods and services which the public is willing to pay for. Bill Gates is a very wealthy man … I’m using one of his products right now. He became wealthy because he offered goods and services which people deemed valuable. In socialist countries the key to wealth and power lies in government not in business. The greedy in socialist countries flock to government, they may become part of it or just try to control it but government is the key. The greedy in socialist countries attempt to direct the public’s wealth to their own pockets via the government.
So, in a capitalist country the greedy benefit society by adding goods and services while in a socialist country the greedy harm society by feeding off the goods and services of others.

The mortgage crises resulted from a breakdown of the free market, a key ingredient in capitalism. The mortgage crises occurred because the federal government allowed banks to transfer the risk of making high risk loans to the federal government via Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. Had the federal government not allowed lending institutions to transfer their risky loans, banks would have never made the loans and the crises would have been averted. Thus the mortgage meltdown is not an example of capitalism gone bad but rather big government central planning gone bad.
I agree with the majority of your post. I think you overlook Barney Franks role in the housing meltdown. Government didn’t allow banks to make toxic mortgages, the Government forced them to do it. 3 times GWB went to Congress on the FBI’s urging that there was major problems with the way mortgages were being handed out. 3 times Barney Frank went on television saying there was no problem with the mortgages and they out to be handing out more, and more they did under the threat of fines levied by you guessed it, the Government.
The FBI didn’t have the resources to investigate and prosecute because they had their hands full preventing terrorist attacks.
That isn’t an inbred greed of capatalism, that my friend is governmental corruption and mismanagement by fascist leftwingnuts. The greedy part is simply a by product of that kind of governance.

I’ve written long, long posts here before about the housing meltdown and just didn’t feel like doing that again. The housing collapse and its effect on the economy was absolutely not caused by capitalism gone bad, greedy CEO’s, or W Bush. The problem, as you correctly pointed out, was bad government policy.

Today marks 60 days since our Afghanistan Commander, Gen McChrystal, formally told B.O. what would be needed to win the war. Of course B.O. knew what was in the Commander’s report long before it was submitted. So here we have our military commanders telling the President exactly what they need to win and the President …well, what is the President doing, you know, between speeches and visits to the Letterman show?
Well for one thing, he’s playing golf! The link below will take you to a story about B.O. playing as much golf in his first nine months of office than W. Bush did in over two years! There is a, “Link” between golf and the war by the way. You see, early on W. Bush got a letter from the family of a service man. The letter expressed the writers concern that while her son was fighting the press was showing the President, W. Bush, playing golf. W thought about the letter and then …quit playing golf. Not B.O. though.

You may recall that B.O. ran for President on the idea that Afghanistan was the “Right war” and spoke a great deal about the need to win the war.. Now, indecision.
Reports are that the Pentagon is furious over B.O.’s lack of resolve and that the morale of our troops is sinking. Meanwhile, our enemies are delighted. Indecision is the universal sign of weakness and our enemies are taking every opportunity to exploit it.
Constitutionally, The President is given more control over the military and national security than probably any other function of government. Obama is failing miserably as Commander in Chief and his failure is being felt in the deaths of our troops and the new aggressiveness of our enemies.

I clicked on your link and got a chuckle. I used to live in San Jose myself. I have had my a– soundly kicked by the local police there. Being a white man, I didn’t have the luxury of crying, “they hate me ’cause I’m white”, and it never got the attention of the media neither local nor national.
During the clintoon/gore fiasco race, sexual and gender confusion, became daily national news and the beginnings of what has become the liberal ideological religion. Just a cursory examination of the universal crime report at the Dept. of Justice website, clearly shows liberal dogma is just another fruitcake fantasy.
Facts and reality never seem to faze liberal decision making or deter their agenda. In our culture today, people are embraced and celebrated as “free thinkers” by just how deeply they swallow the hook of propaganda, and respect the tenets of said religion.
