Latin is the language spoken in the Roman Empire 2,000 years ago. It also means “lower,” as in the southern, or “lower” portion of the Americas. I’ve never understood why Mexicans, Central, and South American people would want to be known by that term. It’s one of the few “labels” that sounds much worse than the correct term (i.e. calling dwarfs “little people”). It’s actually kind of sad.

Nuh Uh!…The word “Mongoloid” describes a person of Mongolian descent. In the past, it was ascribed to persons with Down’s Syndrome because it was thought that their wide, flat faces and far-apart, almond-shaped eyes resembled people of Mongolian descent. Which supports the theory that Asians look retarded.
