[...] Wes Anderson’s latest film Moonrise Kingdom looks like it could be a lot of fun…or not. Seriously. What is up with 2012 and a tedious wave of nostalgia flicks: American Pie…Reunion. Titanic…3-Freakin’-D. And of course Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones return in Men in Black…*drumroll*…III. And maybe it has something to do with the financial climate we’re in, but people seem to be looking more to the past than to the future, at least when it comes to entertainment.
It is not true that all white people love Wes Anderson. His films are very quirky and strange. They are definitely not everyone's cup of tea. To the person who said "hipsters" like him: I am most definitely not a hipster. I'm a 45 year old frumpy lady and I find Anderson's films to extremely poetic and whimsical. However, I know a lot of white people who don't like his films and find them really weird.

I've been cracking up at 90% of this stuff. I'm not claiming to be a smart dude either.I am seeing a lot of folks saying to "lighten up, it is really about hipsters, color has nothing to do with it".

If color plays no part, why isn't it just called "stuff that hipsters like"? It could just as easily be called "stuff that black people think is dumb".

I get this stuff, and it truly is making me laugh. This reply is towards the people telling others its not about color, because it is... and it is hilarious.

now, where is my moleskin notebook? I gotta write this down for later, when my gay black friend comes over. We need something to do in our christmas sweaters, listening to mos def's new classic jazz album, while playing connect four, and drinking organic coffee. Why, because we don't own a t.v..........;-)

#10. Gangster Films

If you run across an african american between the ages of 25 to 50. Chances are they've seen just about every well known gangster movie that's ever been made from the 1970's up. Some have seen films from the 30's and such but they aren't as common. It doesn't matter if it's a exploitation or A-list film a black person will devote at least a half an hour into giving the movie a chance. It one of the few film genres that blacks will actually tell YOU to shut up in a theater (at least until the action starts). Once they find one they will spend an excessive amount of time learning the dialogue of the film, so they can go to someone else who's seen the film and reenact the key parts in the film. Don't go and try quoting anything from a television series like The Wire, The Sopranos, Or Boardwalk Empire because they won't know it. It must be from a motion picture. The most commonplace ones are Scarface, New Jack City, and Goodfellas.

If you're involved in a conversation with a black person in this age range and the topic of gangters movies comes up, quote a famous phrase from one of the examples shown in the former paragraph and watch their eyes light right up. But don't quote too many. This makes them quickly lose interest because you've used all of the quotes they wanted to say and more importantly, saying the last quote before the subject is changed.
