Often times if you ask a white person about where to travel, you will get a lot of responses. But if you ask them about New York, white people will go nuts. They love the city universally and all either live there, have lived there, will live there or want to live there.
White people like New York because it has artists, restaurants, a subway, history, diversity, plays, and other white people. It literally has everything white people need to thrive! The only thing it’s missing is nature, but Central Park is right there, and since you are walking all the time, you are outside!
If you are from New York, tell this to a white person. They will instantly be interested in you “what part of New York? and you are really from there?” When they inevitably tell you about your home town (“I know this great italian place…”) you should respond by saying “man, I thought place was only known to New Yorkers.”
Another secret fact about white people, if you are in group setting and the topic of New York City comes up, find the highest ranking white person and say “oh, are you from New York?”
To them, this means you are calling them cultured, cool, and urban. They will respond with something like “oh, well, I’ve spent a lot of time there,” or “I lived there for three years.” You will have instantly become more popular than all other people in the group.

I love how OC / SD are much different from LA…I’m from SF and I call Laguna Beach the Sausalito of southern California. I actually am slightly embarrassed to admit how much I like Orange County but I do. If I were a suburbanite and looking to raise a family, I would move back there – the natural beauty and quality of life are top notch. Sure some subdivisions are sterile and gated but you don’t have to live there and if you DO – you really don’t have to worry about crime and blight…what’s so wrong with that?

You can complain about New York all you want but at least just by living here we are much, smarter,wiser,interesting and tolerant then your slow, snooty,fat asses. Please! Please! stay home in your crappy little town and hang out at the local applebee’s, olive garden bar with all your friends . i’m from ny state, not the city (ie- long island). i hate the city, primarily because it got too white (i’m irish and puerto rican…i think it’s still pc for me to say things like that). i lived in the bronx for a short time, biiig cultural shock after growing up on the island, and i absolutely loved it. not for nothing, but i found that as far as long island, and manhattan go, the white people are who ruined everything. everyone’s afraid of their own shadow, so they cope with it by having waaay too much attitude over everything. “ewww a homeless person!”…. or my personal favorite, of getting into fights over who bumped into who in penn station. in the bronx people get along with eachother. it’s not rude like the streets of manhattan, or in the suburbs where you can hide on your acre of property, or roll up your car window if someone you don’t know tries to speak to you.
i plan on moving back to the bronx as soon as i get my crap together, and can actually function without the help of a parent…

Long Island is practically a suburb of that City. Might as well be a borough.
And like that city, it sucks up the taxes the other 8 million residents of this State pay for various bullshit projects proposed by the myriad NYC Representatives in Albany. I don’t pay taxes for a fucking repaving of the VN bridge. People in Watertown, Old Forge, Oswego, fuck even Rochester and Buffalo shouldn’t watch their money get sucked into those glass canyons.
The rest of the state is dying thanks to all our money being funneled into Downstate. I’d love to see NYC and Long Island secede from New York State to form their own bloody state. Save the rest of us the cash it costs to support you.

Yeah Brooklyn too, because parts like East Williamsburg are being “gentrified”. I did a quick self-score to see just how white I really am (all this time I thought I was my Italian-Jewish hodgepodge of ethnic flavor). I genuinely “like” 22 of the 106 things on the list; not mutually exclusive, not that I “dislike” all the others but those 22 really grabbed me. Some of the things on that list are just *embarrassingly* white, e.g. snowboarding, vintage clothes and standing still at concerts.
The only people who talk about NYC are people from NYC. No one else really cares. Shut up already.

Well I know I don’t care. I wouldn’t move to the place unless it was the ONLY option outside the midwest. But obviously, a lot of people watched Sex in the City or Friends or even Seinfeld and wanted to live in a place like New York.
