Often times if you ask a white person about where to travel, you will get a lot of responses. But if you ask them about New York, white people will go nuts. They love the city universally and all either live there, have lived there, will live there or want to live there.

White people like New York because it has artists, restaurants, a subway, history, diversity, plays, and other white people. It literally has everything white people need to thrive! The only thing it’s missing is nature, but Central Park is right there, and since you are walking all the time, you are outside!

If you are from New York, tell this to a white person. They will instantly be interested in you “what part of New York? and you are really from there?” When they inevitably tell you about your home town (“I know this great italian place…”) you should respond by saying “man, I thought place was only known to New Yorkers.”

Another secret fact about white people, if you are in group setting and the topic of New York City comes up, find the highest ranking white person and say “oh, are you from New York?”

To them, this means you are calling them cultured, cool, and urban. They will respond with something like “oh, well, I’ve spent a lot of time there,” or “I lived there for three years.” You will have instantly become more popular than all other people in the group.

If you really wanna see the difference just get on N,R,W train and ride from downtown brooklyn to all the way last stop of queens. You’ll see the changes of people getting in and out of the train.. right at 59 street / lex all the white people get off (you can tell that they are not native new yorkers) and the others get in the train.. (true hard working new yorkers) you will see some whites still sitting but they’ll get off around steinway steet (hahaha they found out that rent is cheaper in queens than manhattan so they now started taking over astoria too)

you will see the same thing going towards brooklyn… the deeper you go the more you’ll see the true new yorkers…

I worked at wall street for years and most of the people in my office lived in Manhattan.. ironically they have been in NYC for only couple of years moved from other states or other countries (not like hard working people who come to US from other countries for opportunities. they were paid by their companies to live in the US and Manhattan)

These so called New yorkers never leave Manhattan and make fun of people living in Brooklyn and Queens… they are literally scared to walk on the streets of queens or Brooklyn. (bunch of pussies)

They will go see US open in flushing but will not live there… they will go see a mets game with a native new yorker buddy who will take them to Shea stadium. but then talk down about queens or brooklyn…

These people should be slapped immediately when they say that they are new yorkers..

Joe Momma, please don’t get upset, but there’re about ten million “non-natives” living in the suburbs around NYC nowadays, who commute to manhattan to work white colar jobs, and wouldn’t you know, these are the same people whose parents and grandparents BUILT those houses and schools in the parts of Queens you’re talking about. And you can thank them that they weren’t built like sh*t back then, and aren’t falling down, as long as their maintained by their occupants

It’s funny how you talk about Manhattan like Washington Heights and Harlem don’t exist.

haha it’s also funny how he talks about how “real” and “hard-working” brooklyn is without mentioning white-person-mecca: williamsburg, park slope, and brooklyn heights

Brooklyn would love to have the Dodgers back, since the L.A. area lost 2 NFL teams (one moved back to Oakland), the Clippers could head to New Jersey when the Nets go to a new NYC arena, and California with Arizona may lose its NHL teams (white people love hockey you know, less white people around, ice hockey fails). Great place for soccer is L.A. due to the Hispanic culture, it brought David Beckham. The N.Y. Cosmos based in Long Island had Pele in 1975, that other island is more ethnically diverse and same is true for the N.Y. Red Bulls in today’s MLS in northern New Jersey. +

White people love Harlem. They can be at one with Black people.

Harlem is regentrified alright, wealthy blacks are the main group in Harlem the first time since the early 1930′s at the height of the “Harlem renaissiance”, when it was the hub of black/Afro-American culture (at least I didn’t say “Negro”). The 106th St./Park Ave. intersection has recovered in 10 years from 1992 after a riot broke out during the Democrat party convention held there, to the post 9-11 NY city pride of where Harlem has changed. Former president Bill Clinton has an apartment in Harlem, and Rudy Giuliani who cleaned out 42nd West (now called Disney Square) could be thanked, except his 8-year term as mayor involved tougher policing and racial incidents: one cause when an African immigrant was killed when he pulled his wallet, the white police officers thought it was gonna be a gun or pistol. +

Why do New Yorkers think they are so special and awesome? Like when they see something weird they say “Only in New York!”

Or they love to make fun of midwesterners from “flyover country.” Let me tell you I have been to New York and it isn’t as “real” as yall think it is. Its like if you aren’t from the east or west coast you are an uncultured hick.

scott…you haven’t been to the real ny…oh scott, it’s sad to tell you, the empire state building and times square aren’t the real ny

I think the word you are looking for is “smug,” and it is pretty much the point of this blog. White people have a problem with snobbery, and they tend to gravitate towards expensive places with lots of other whites like NYC. It is only natural that they would look down on the rest of the country.

Most real New Yorkers do not have this superiority complex. As mentioned earlier in the comments, it tends to be the one with family money who have something to prove.

Last post, I’m heading back home to Palm Springs, Cal. the ex-New Yorkers, along with ex-L.A. people, O.C. people, San Diego people, San Francisco Bay area folks, Canadians and people from all over the Northwest (ex-Californians with second homes in the winter), white people wouldn’t leave the village of Palm Springs alone either. It’s gayer to have a “white party” every Nov. with 50,000 guests from around the world, mainly homosexual men are everywhere. Btw, most of the relocated New Yorkers here in the other coast are stereotypically Italian, Irish, Polish, Puerto Rican and (gasp) Jewish. The Palm Springs area is becoming more of a second Florida, also a place where older people of all races go to, Palm Springs is “heaven’s waiting room”.+

Because most people do take pride in where they come from. And also because Ny is great. If you don’t like it fine, but don’t be paranoid.

OH, and I doubt it was “real” for you since you were a TOURIST. Most people who visit a place, especially as large as Ny, barely get to tap the surface. Or I guess you think going to see The Lion King in Times Square is how most New Yorkers spend their daily lives?

Hey lou why don’t you get off your trustafarian playground and become a tourist in the Midwest? Or I guess you think we all grow corn in our daily lives.

How about this. . . take the greyhound to Detroit and take a walk around. Come on – you are a tough gritty New Yorker, right? If you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere.

Or you can do what a lot of broke midwestern hicks do – enlist in the service. Take two tours and then come back and tell me what’s real.

hahahahaahahahahhahahaahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhaahhahahahahahahhahaahhahahahahahahahahahhahaahhahahahhahahahaahhahahahahahhahaahh!!!! hahahahahahahahahahha???!??!? D= and i was all like hahahahahaahahahhahhaahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaa. haha. hahaha?? and she was all like OHHHH hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahaa and i was like omg like HAHAH! and we were both like hahahahahahahhahaha hahah hahaha hahaha!!!!! =D

But yuppies love Chicago! Say hi to Marcy D’arcy for me, the nosy snotty yuppie neighbor on “married with children” and Al Bundy’s mortal enemy: Marcy is a radical feminist, a snob, neo-con and yuppie found someone to poke fun of. +

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!

Trolls are a race of people finds a way to magically appear on the internet to cause problems, unfortunately anyone is accused of “trolling” in one time or another (that’ll be me). Hi, I’m Michael…and I’m…I’m a “troll” (cries for attention). We should complete a 12-step program to stop trolling. +

they only think that because it’s true. hick.

Any New Yorker who asks an out-of-towner “oh, are you from New York?” has been sleepwalking their entire life. “I lived there for three years” still qualifies for transplant/transient status, and that shit needs to gtfo.

didn’t terrorists fuck that place up?

great job completely misreading that part.

I would like to see the west side of Los Angeles added to the STWPL list. It is, IMO, probably the hippest and trendist part of LA, espcially Venice, which is where all the ultra cool white LA hipsters like to either live, hang out and be seen.

I live in LA but in the boring San Fernando Valley because living in Venice is fricking expensive. My wife and frequently go down to Venice to do a little (mostly window) shopping and to eat at one of the chic little Venice neighborhood restaurants, of which there are many.

For a long time it seemed like the in car for the hip west side crowd was a BMW 3 series convertible. Then that was replaced by the Prius. Now that gas prices are lower I am wondering what will succeed the Prius as THE car to be seen in on the west side.

The funniest thing about the little tips on how to fit in with white people, interlaced in the articles is that they will probably work. An the tone of these things cracks me up to. “Since you will be walking all the time, you are outside!”

Except, in this case, a New Yorker can always spot a BullS**er.

Always? Right, I guess Madoff coned only simpletons from Iowa making less than 30k a year. Get off your tiny little island from time to time, and this doesn’t mean just reading the NY Times. There is a whole world out there in addition to New York. By the way, I am a New Yorker, grew up and spent more than half my life here.

Only half your life? How very Albany of you..

Because Brooklyn is an amazing, history and cultural filled area? I was born and raised there, then moved to long island three years ago. I have been to various places around the country, to the Caymen Islands and to Cancun, and in the end Brooklyn is still my favirote place in the whole world 0_0

Great article though ;)

ugh! Why oh why do white people (or any people for that matter) like Brooklyn? Brooklyn fucking blows!

Brooklyn is kinda awesome now. I remember Welcome Back Kotter (thankyouverymuch) but that Brooklyn isn’t Brooklyn now. I’ve lived here 5 years.

It kicks the shit out of Queens, too.

And you have no idea how white people drool about living in New York City. It is definitely funny. Even my slightly hick-like relatives get all impressed and boast about me living here.

Ok, Brooklyn has SOME cool things about it, but it’s still ghetto as hell in a lot of places. I actually I do have an idea about how people react to New York as I live here. And WHAT!? Queens is aweseome! Go to Astoria right now. Queens is like Brooklyn minus all the f-ing hipsters and crackheads.

Crap. I meant to say, do not go to Queens for any reason. You and your friends just stay put in williamsburg and bushwick….it’s very very boring in queens.

They’re too young to remember “Welcome Back Kotter”

Wow, those actually all sound like great reasons to like a city. Except is there a city in the US that DOESN’T have more white people?

seattle, washington and portland, oregon are the whitest places in the world.

Try Atlanta, Detroit, DC…need I go on?

Unless you’re talking whole metropolitan areas and not just the actual city, then search me…

yeah dan youre a dumbass, also add chicago los angeles philadelphia baltimore DC houston dallas st louis san francisco new orleans, new york.
