#75 Threatening to Move to Canada

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.
For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare “ok, that’s it, I’m moving to Canada.”
Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly different to the one they live in now.
Within white culture, it is agreed upon that if Canada had better weather it would be a perfect place.
Being aware that this information can be used quite easily to gain the trust of white people. Whenever they say, “I’m moving to Canada,” you must immediately respond with “I have relatives in Canada.”
They will then expect you to tell them about how Canada has a perfect healthcare system, legalized everything, and no crime. Though not true, it will reassure them that they are making the right choice by saying they want to move there.
But be warned, they will reference you in future conversations and possibly call on you to settle disputes about Canadian tax rates. So use this advice only if you plan to do some basic research.

holy, this is a little off in some points,
as great as if is that you are finally realizing that Canada is an amazing country, you must be joking when you think most of us what to move to EUROPE.
don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful, it’s vast and yes, it’s different, but it’s not home to us Canadians.
Plus, why would you want to move?
as far as I’m concerned, I can go to school with worring I’d be shot because I am a girl.
my colour of skin has never been a problem for me, I’m white… got a problem?
my health care is complety covered… sure I have to pay a few more bucks than the states, but heck yeah, I don’t have to worry about being denied because I can’t pay up!
I can wake up in the morning and think and talk freely, sure my mom sometimes tells me to put a cork on it, but I can think and feel and be alive.
I could possibly live till I am 103 years of age, since my life expectancy is 80 years old, I have a vast life ahead of me…I should probably point out that the life span in Italy is 76 and in places like Afghanistan is only 55.
I could keep going you now, honestly. I do see you’re point though, but I felt the need to share that I disagree.
Offended much? Don’t know how old you are but a lot of people I know pull the “screw this I’m moving to Europe” line though I will admit “I’m moving to Mexico for some cheap Corronas” has been uttered a lot but no one I know wanted to follow through on that one.

I’m just saying I’m a proud “Canadienne” but I don’t live in denial that my country is without fault. Fact is people need a dream place to go to when stuff doesn’t go their way even if they love their country.

Us Europeans threaten to move to another european country – or Australia/New Zealand.
Almost every year one of my friends moves to France or Australia, only to return a few months later.
Interestingly though, my parents are constantly threatening to move to Canada.
Most Europeans actually tend to threaten to move to Canada or Australia (depending on your heat preference) especially the Brits
Hmmmm. This doesn’t just apply to White people. People of Color always threaten to move to Canada too, but not for the same reasons as our White counterparts.
All of the Black and Brown people that I know usually threaten to move to Canada several times a year, especially when the following happens:
1. Racial profiling
2. DWB (driving while Black/Brown) see #1
3. Dealing w/American healthcare, Canadian healthcare seems so much better.
4. Michael Moore has subtly advertised in his movies that people of color are treated equally in Canada.
5. Canada has less of an ugly history than the U.S. and that is more appealing for many reasons.
But we Canadians hate minorities like you. You should see how we treat our Pakis; it’s like the way you southerners want to treat your blacks. So, please, don’t come here; god, it’s bad enough with the Chinese.

I would never move to canada. I have seen south park and Canada looks like a terrible place. Their heads come completely apart when they talk, they dont have cirlces everything is squares and not to mention Scott lives there and Scotts a dick!

Katie, Canadian TV shows are also on American channels: the Kids in the Hall and you can’t do that on Television, and the CBC agreement to air all-Native Canadian/First Nations-cast programming (is PBS paying attention to this?)

We all argue over political views, education, health care, blah blah blah. Canada has it’s good and bad. America has it’s good and bad. Hell American military even competes against itself. how many times I’ve heard a soilder in the navy saying they’re better than the army… Don’t you defend the same damn country. Who cares who does what in the military, you all do what you’re told from a higher authority and they do it from a higher authority so on and so forth. We all got problems and this economy crisis is Global! You move to Canada, you’re only buying a few more months before it hits there. I don’t have facts of that but it’s not just America that’s falling.
Canada is a great place to move to if you live in the U.S. and don’t have healthcare, education funding or skills. Hell we’ll pay for it all come on over.

As I fellow Canadian I validate this statement, especially France but only after having seeing Sicko. I’ll believe anything Micheal Moore says especially about gun violence in Canada and this is from someone who’s gotten mugged at gunpoint!
Actually Canada does have really low crime rate, one of the lowest in the world. But in general you shouldn’t trust micheal moore he bends the truth a lot. I find Canadians threaten to move to either B.C./Oil Fields/Montreal if they are in Ontario or if in Quebec they threaten to go to Toronto/Vancover… Haven’t known a lot of Vancouvernites???, except for scott but scotts a dick.
