football is the mainsport in the whole of europe, south america, in wide parts of africa and even in the arabian countries they are into football.

Americans don’t think the world revolves around us, and neither does the author of this blog. This post was intended to make fun of the very true fact that a lot of middle-class Americans say a lot of stuff about “the beautiful game” etc. but don’t know anything about football/soccer. I know a lot of people who will meet me, find out that I’m a huge Barca fan, and say “Oh yeah I love that team!” Of course, two weeks in the future, whenever I ask them excitedly, “Did you watch that game against so-and-so?” they won’t know what the hell I’m talking about.
The author of this blog has made it pretty clear that when he says “white people” he’s not talking about all Caucasians. He’s talking about a specific subset of hipster, liberal-minded, middle-class Americans. Not all white people fit into this category, obviously; not all Americans or even all middle-class members do either.
