It’s probably most funny, because in the US, “white” is considered normal and with the exception of certain fringe groups- most white people do not think of themselves as white. They seem surprised when it is pointed out to them. It is almost taboo in many circles to notice whiteness, even though it’s attitudes, preferences, and common traits are define acceptability.

Hence, the shock and humor of the blog. I can NOT wait to read the book either. My interracial family will get a big kick out of it too.

Yes white guilt is possibly real- but more likely cluelessness- mainly unintentional.

That’s why the white people that really “get it” about discrimination virually become pariahs because they become so angry and it…instead of sublimating the injustice for years, as we of color Must do- in order to be accepted at all.

My 2 cents worth. Truth and forgiveness. The US and most developed nations are extremely hostile to colored people as a group- but tolerant and kind towards individuals. That’s why you can have a war on the black man in the justice system. It’s pretty evil but only Jesus can teach someone to love their enemies and forgive those who harm them. Otherwise it’s a vicious cycle of hatred and it never ends until one or both parties are dead.

If America was honest about the (intentional )supression of blacks as a group here and abroad, we would have to shed our cherished belief that we are the most moral country on the planet…
