The show is set in the decade of the 1960s. Only the first season is in the actual year 1960.

Mad Men is a great show, and whiter than Jack White eating sushi from a food truck in Portland, but if it’s errors you’re looking for, start with your blog entries.

I love Mad Men. It is however, ultimately, always depressing. You get to look for the historical inaccuracies in all those beautiful shots, and you begin to realize that you will never wear a dress that pretty to clean the house, or that your boss is just a dufus in a garbage bag suit with too many pleats and not dashing at all, even that you can’t seem to get pure white high gloss true linoleum sheet flooring anymore. So now I’m sad I am living in 2012. Then I realize Don Draper wouldn’t really want my business, a la Rachel Menkin, and I feel glad I don’t live in 1960. It is a vicious, depressing cycle. Man men does not have a low intellectual quality. It points out many things that are different that we never even noticed. Why would the truth be depressing for white people? How can you generalize like that ,especially if your not white. No one knows what everyone likes. That is a good show,but not a very insightful article. History is history. It got us all where we are today. I agree ,if your not happy, the truth would be depressing.
