25 years ago I saw “Carmen” at the opera house in Omaha. I saw “Hamlet” at Creighton U. I saw Jonathan Richman at the Howard Street Tavern. (Howard Street was paved with bricks, by the way.) I saw Florentine art at the Joslyn.
With that kind of culture, who needs “art house cinema”? Especially in the Netflix age.
And with this sort of tolerance towards africans, how will the south survive without slaves?

The Horror! I’ve been going to art house films for a very long time, and I can’t remember not being able to obtain that essential of the movie experience: popcorn.
Oftentimes, not freshly popped (a crime), but usually available. I was so pleased a couple of weeks ago at the local art house when the guys behind the counter suggested I wait a couple of minutes for the fresh batch, that I would be in good time for the flick and it would be worth the wait. It was. They even used real butter!
As fan of indie films, I hope Ms. Jacobson’s cinema works out. It will be hard in this age of Netflicks, IFC, IndiePlex and Encore Edge in just about everyone’s livingrooms and seems people will rather spend their $15 to see Alien vs Predator lV or Ace Venture III or the latest Bruce Willis stinker instead of Sideways or a film like Waitress. Good luck to her; I’ll stop by the next time I’m in Omaha.

Second, “you people” like to bring up that the Jews own the banks, run the shadow governments…etc. If you did your homework, you’d see that the shadow government (if you believe they do, in fact, run the show) is made up much more of Anglo-Saxons and other whites than Jews. Reading the comments section in this blog has provided me with more education about ethnicities (including the roots of various groups) than any university course I ever took.

Omaha has had varying places to see independent films for years… Dundee, Indian Hills, etc. Not to mention a 45 minute drive would get you to a 2 screen art house theatre at the University of Nebraska for the last 30 years…

Actually around 98.5% of our DNA is “junk DNA”. That is they are base pairs of non-expressed genes. The human genome is 6 billion base pairs long. So even if 98.5% of our DNA is junk and 98.5% is the exact same as a chimpanzee (it isn’t as much of the similarity is in the junk part), that still leaves 1.35MM base pairs that express genes that differentiate us. You can fit a lot of genes in 1.35MM base pairs.
It doesn’t make sense to try to look at DNA in mathematically geometric terms. The South American marbled lungfish has 133 billion base pairs, yet few would argue they are 100x better/smarter than humans.
Differences count with DNA though, thats the takeaway. And even though an bobcat is probably 99.8% similar to a domestic cat and can mate with one and produce offspring that can reproduce, typically the bobcat will kill the cat in an attempted breeding, despite their genetic similarities.

On the broader spectrum, racists like Duke who masquerade as intellectuals by writing vitriolic screeds about “international Jewry” aren’t really very dangerous either. Why you may ask? Because any reasonably intelligent person can quickly ascertain that any facts people like him use to support their arguments are at best cherry-picked to support their thesis or at worst, completely fabricated (as Duke is wont to do).
